i purchased an 08 geezer glide and after putting about 1k mi. on it, i had pipes, front end chrome kit put on. Now, when riding about 35 mph i feel a wooble in the handlebars. I let go, and the handlebars wooble back n forth. Took it back to the dealer and he says its fine. If hae adjusts it any more, that i would lose the smooth handling at higher speeds.
I never heard of this. My 06 didn't have this problem.
can any give me input
One more here. I had the same thing and it was the tire. Check to see if you see any unusual tread wear of high spots on the tire. I had mine on a lift and turned the tire and it became obvious.
First things first.....if your dealer service writer is a dick....find one who is not. What needs to be done if you cant get a dealer to do it, is first remove the front wheel and take it to either a HD dealer or Indy who has a good quality up to date wheel balancing machine, and have them balance the tire for you. If that does not do the trick, you will need to tighten the steering head bearings. Its not too hard a job at all....but having the factory service manual for your year/model will be a big help.
If I was you though....I would keep pushing for the dealer where you bought it, or where you had the front end upgrade done either re-balance the wheel, and or tighten the steering head bearings to spec. Me personally, I like then a bit tighter than the MOCO spec....but that's just me. I did try to set them with the MOCO's "fall away" procedure, but they were always too loose.
you're right biz, they did adjust the front bearing nut. When i took it back because it was still doing it, they told me it will effect the steering at higher speeds. Are the bullshitting me?? I'm beginning to think he don't want to tear it down again again because he already billed harley for the warranty work last week. what do you guys think? I definitely don't like the way it feels.
I had similiar problem also on my Roak King. Turned out it was because the front tire was on backwards. I know this sounds minimal, but look for the little arrow on the tire. It should be facing toward in the direction that the tire goes. It solved my problem!
