Default trailer hitch

How difficult is it to install a trailer hitch on an Ultra Classic? Which is the best one in your opinion? Can you buy a wiring harness so you don't have to cut wires? Any help appreciated.

Tell ya what - saw a hitch for an Ultra where they have the receiver hardware installed inside the bottom of the rear fender and also included a "blanking panel" to hide the receiver when not in use - VERY nice product. They also included the wiring harness - whole thing was under $300.

I had one on my '07 Ultra. I got old and bought a toyhauler so I took it off.
Easy to install. I had the hidden receiver style that was under the rear fender basically. With the drawbar off, you couldn't tell there was a hitch on it, it just looked like a chrome band. Great hitch! The receiver goes up not in so it is hidden. Hitchdoc was the brand. Wiring is easy with a kit too.

put a hitch doctor reciever on my '05 ultra. Took less than thirty minutes to install (piece o' cake). entire thing is chromed. built heavier than some hitches people put on their trucks. I wouldn't try pulling a boat with your bike though.

as for the wiring if you wanna go the easy way there is a part in j&p part #300-077 that will make it a breeze (about $42). I went to the local dealership & the service guy gave me the part #s to make my own (cost less than twelve bucks).

I would recommend you get an isolator (it will protect your bikes electronics, for instance if you don't use an isolator it is possible your turn signals will start flashing differently when the trailer isn't connected). My trailer is a bushtec so I ordered it from them along with the pigtail to hook up to the six wire flat connector on the trailer.

if you need more info let me know

I have a Kury hitch. It is NOT hidden. It is a big Chrome mother. Wife says the more chrome the better! hehe

Wiring is fairly easy. Make sure you use an isolator to keep any problems with the trailer wiring from affecting the bikes wiring.

I have a Bushtec that I took off of my EG Classic if anyone is interested. I also have the wiring and what I believe to be an isolator that would go with it.

www.mchitch.com great hitch, with removable receiver. Not quite as hidden as the hitchdoc unit, but I dont even notice it. Best part as its 1/2 the price of the hitch doc and heavier duty IMHO. They even sell a plug and play wiring harness.
