I will sometimes just use the air compressor in my shop....or a leaf blower, but 99.9% of the time I am using the Cali Duster if its just fine dust from the road or sitting in the garage.

You would be fine using a towel or MF cloth.....but do not use it dry. If you do, you are almost sure to get swirl marks. Either use a quick detail spray.....or even just a damp cloth.

Here is a very good site with some quality products and good info on detailing bikes the right way.

PLedge wipes followed by a good micro-fiber cloth.
Buffs up the paint, shines the chrome....easy & cheap.

Oh, and if there's some dust within a few days, then the cali duster...

"Dust " here is not too common but oursalty haze and high humidity makes whatever it is that we do havepretty darn sticky soIuse good old Pledge with these new MF towels for quick clean-ups.

I used a terry towel to wipe a small drop of gas that landed on my tank after fueling and it scratched the crap out if it. Nothing wax would not take out but i was a little surprised what a new terry cloth would do to the vivid black. I only use micro fiber towels now on everything and save the terry towels for indoor use. I have said this a few times but it is a real good deal. Sams has packs of 25 18"x18" micro fiber towels for under $12 and come in 4 colors. Best deal i have found. The pledge works great for the dust on the bike. Protect all is a little better.

Swiffer duster. Disposable and hand held. About $7 and it will get in the small places.

I've used both the dash duster and the swiffer....didn't like either because if there is any little bit of moisture they make a scratchy looking mess....a micro fiber cloth with Cycle Care 33 detail spray works every time regardless of moisture.

I use a small feather duster I bought at Lowe's for $3.00
Works great, I keep it in saddle bag.
