I installed one on my 07 FLHTC and am very satisfied so far. I used the kit from the MOCO
HD pt.# 53303-07 and found it complete with everything needed.
Supposedly, the black nylon bushings wear over time and the rack will start to rattle. There are several alternatives when they do.
Hi Bud, Ive installedon my FLHT both the tour pack two up and for single seat and both fittings are rock solid. Found the single seat fitting can be a bit fiddley to snap on if you don't remove the side panniers but all in all 10 out of 10 for a great system (you are paying for quality and convenience).
Great! I am getting the 08 EGC and plan to take off the tour pack and add a solo seat. Don't need the dealer to install this mod if I can do it my self to save on labor charge.
When you buy the mounting kit, also buy the Service Manual and a T27 Torx drive/socket if you don't already have one.
Unless there is some financial inducement to do otherwise, become familiar with the 20% off list price HD dealers like Zanotti's, Chicago HD, etc.--many here use them or others.
Love mine, being able to go from solo to full blown touring rig in the span of 20 minutes is GREAT! The factory bushing's do a good job till they wear out, seems that some last forever and others wear out pretty quickly, go figure There are solutions for the problem bushing's out there though!
