117 Break in and overall Impression
Hello all! I took the day off on Friday to break in the new 117 package. Spent the first couple of hours cleaning and polishing the bike first. [ force of habit...LOL] For the first twenty miles - I did the 30 to 60 and then back down to 30 mph [ did this about 15 times]. Going through the gears. after, I hit the beltway and did the 50 to 80 roll ons a few times, then kept it steady ranging from 60 to 75 mph. total milage is about 150. Will do another 50 -100 miles, then change the oil. Break in Done! My Impression of the 117 from Hillside is very strong and tight. Not as agressive to what I'm used to on my chopper, But that would be comparing apples to oranges. The chopper was rigid and light with a very powerful 120 engine.This power comes in later through the mid range where I like. No back breaking off the line. The bikes pulls strong through the gears where I'm shifting just as fast to keep the RPM's down-no red lining at this point. With the Reinharts T/D's, my bike sounds louder and like an "ol 69 Hot Rod !! SHaaaaaWingggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will update again later.
