Pez and Hogtunes will ALWAYS have my business. My stereo killed a LOT of more expensive ones around. My 04 bagger stereo sounded great @ 100 plus mphover theKerkers. Stereo was clear as a bell.
My system...Hawg Wired components in the fairing, Infinity Kappa6"x9"in the bags, Alpine PDX-4.100 400wt amp in theleft bag along with a Tsunami 1.2F Capacitor. I'd say it sounds pretty damn good. Check out my photo album for pics of my system.
The big three on here are Hawg Wired, Hogtunes, and JMCorp. I would also say they are in that order of quality but I think Hogtunes offers the best value to good sound ratio. Like speed and motor mods, it all depends on what you are specificaly looking for and what to spend.
My buddy has the full Hogtunes kit (TP speakers, Lower speakers, Fairing speakers, and the amp) for his UC coming, and I can't wait tohear how it all sounds on his bike. I have not heard this particular full system yet, but hear other guys really like it.
My problem on my 08 SG is the volume. There isn't enough even with stock mufflers. Do the speakers you guys refer to increase volume or just quality. increasing the quality means nothing if you can't hear it. Could some of you guys that have upgraded speak to the volume aspect?
Gary
An amp is key.A good ampwill increase volume and clarity/quality. Many of the speakers that are being refered to hear are semi high quality units that are screaming for more than the 27watts of power per chanel put out by the stock HK unit.
Even the Hawg Wired components thatI have in my fairing sounded light years better with the amp than without. However, either way, its way better than stock. Both louder and clearer.
After a big bunch of reading here on the subject, I put Infinity Kappas in my 08 SG...the results, according to me, is that they sucked. I put the factory speakers back in. I also have the same, belief, needs more power. Everything I read about amps seems to refer to front and rear speaker systems. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced amp that might help (if power is the problem) without having to add rear speakers?
IF THEY ARE THE 5-1/4IN I BOUGHT JBL.S GTO527 FOR $50.00 A PAIR
AND THEY SOUND GREAT !
I just added a set of these today along with Polk Audio tweters today. I haven't gotten to ride with them but hearing them shop the sound was much better than stock.
