Default Ultra Pricing ??

Is there a way to find out what the radio options on the 08 Ultras actually cost w/out going to the dealer. I want to know what XM, NAV, and the Blue Tooth hands free options cost. And are they factory options or dealer ? I've been to the HD web site, they give you MSRP, color option cost, wheel cost, and ABS, but nothing on radio.

Last question, is a guy better off to sell out right, or trade. I'm thinking sell out right, but time is a big factor for me, as I don't have muchhome time due to job. And where do you find out what your ride is actually worth.

Thanks for any info/advise.....

In my experience it is always better to sell a bike to a private party. The dealer has to make money on the resale so he will offer a much lower price. The rest I'm not sure about, maybe someone else will chime in.

The accessory catalog has the prices of these options. Brace yerself, they ain't cheap - GPS $1000+! Also, you have to pay a "tech" -otherwise known as"a guy who needs a computer to tell him what to do" to install them for around $100/hr = insane!

Good luck,

John

All of the items you asked about are add-on accesories that you can do yourself if you want to. However..That being said, I think I would look for the same items aftermarket and install them as a way to save big bucks.

You can easily add an MP3 player, GPS, and Satilite radio with no problems at all. You will need a service manual to discover what wires to hook to, ect... but otherwise, you can buy all of those items for less than half of the H-D costs.

1.An independant shop can give you all the info you need if you don't want to go to a dealer. You should be able to find one in your area. 2. It is always better to sell private and 3. to figure out the value of the bike, check out the net, bike trader listings or go to www.nadaguides.com to help with the price. If time is a major factor you just need to flexible with the price where it doesn't hurt to much as well as gets rid of the bike as soon as possible. Good luck.

Life is Great....We all Ride!!!!....just some of us have two bikes...

XM is dealer installed for $550 for the Ultra. It takes programming & a secial wiring harness. Nav was $1050 I think. I got the XM but not the Nav.I haveXM in several vehicles. The HD XM radio head unit is by far the hardest one to move around the stations on
Good luck.

OUCH !!! I found the prices I was lookng for. No wonder those dealerships are so nice. I'll be looking at the after market guys for xm and nav. But I think I will be putting the bike on eBay and see what happens rather than trade. I put a deposit on an 08 Ultra w/abs today, should be here in June.

Thanks for advise and info....

Check www.kbb.com for used bike values. Some dealers offer decent trades, especially if they think you might trade for one of the 105th Anniversary bikes. They all seem to be overloaded with them. Some are reportedly even repainting them to sell them.

You can buy a Zumo 550 with XM radio for $800.00. A much better Nav and a much cheaper way to go.

I'd sell outright and not go thru the dealer. You always win, because the dealer won't give you nearly what you could have if you sold private. I sold my 84 Ironhead which was sweet to a guy I worked with. The HD book showed the retail price of all the accessories. I thought it worked like a car, but it doesn't. I ordered the HD GPS and a few other things. The dealer charges you labor for all that stuff. My advice is being tough and negotiate whatever you buy extra, they intall for free before you take possession of the bike. My bike took so longto have my extras that when I picked it up,the dealer went to install my temp tag and I handed him my permanent state tag which was shipped to my house by DMV/ They laughed, I was pissed.Just my experience. Negotiate everything!!!! Just my learning experience. Hope this helps. [/align]
