Was wondering what you folks thought about chaps...I understand they would be great ifyou ever went down and slid but to me they are unconfortable, hot, and hard to put on....If safety is the main concern do you also wear a full face helmet??...I went and looked and some of those jeans you can buy with the leatherreniforced butt and knee areas....not sure if those would work well but I think theymightbe more confortable and maybe not so hot....maybe I have not found the right pair of chaps..I don't know.just seems to me kinda weird to wear a leather coat(which I do) and chaps(which I don't have)but then wear a 1/2 helmet(which I do sometimes)....Just wondering what others thought.......THANKS
Sorry, but, LMAO. I do not wear chaps. The village people ruined the look for me. Now, those reinforced jeans, I would be cool with that. But, I think wearing chaps, along with my fingerless gloves, might give off the wrong impression... besides, as fat as I am, it would take an entire sacrifice of a cow to get me a set, LOL...
Chaps are for cold weaher riding. I know you see chaps being worn in 100 degree weather at Sturgiis but those people are just styling. Also you don't hae to shop around for chaps. You'll mostly find labels with names like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and China. Evan at the HD Dealer. Buy chaps from Brooks Leather Sportswear. Been a firefighter for over 35 years now (retirement May 3). I wear chaps most of the time - cold or hot. I have seen what a pair of jeans look like after going down the road and it ain't pretty.. Its your skin....
No style to wearing chaps. Not for protection either. Cold weather/rain comfort and I wear them all winter. Believe it or not, it does get cold here in AZ, so when it's in the 40's and below, I'm wearing my chaps. They come off as soon as it warms up.
I wear chaps lots too, another nice thing about themis that when they get full of bugs you can take a rag and wash them off or just take them off and your jeans are still clean. The first pair I bought was a cheaper pair and I didn't like them at all, once I bought a pair of HD basic skins I love them. It also gets cool here and they help with that.
