Anyone who thinks chaps will protect you when you go down is dreaming. They will separate at the zippers or snaps and you will have zero protection.

I used to wear chaps when it was cold out as they do a good job of blocking the wind. However, now I wear textile pants with armour at key locations. I can wear the pants without jeans underneath even on a 35 degree day. (Haven't tried them when colder yet) They cut the wind nicely, and have a zip in waterproof liner for when it rains. My jacket is also textile with armour and a zip in waterproof liner for when needed. Both items are Joe Rocket products.

Both the pants and jacket have zip out sections that reveal mesh in areas that don't need protection for ventilation on hot days. Perfect.

Yah, I know it isn't "leather". I am more interested in function than looks.

Only to keep warm. I always wear a full face helmet when I go on trips but wear a skid lid when I'm bumming around local on hot days.

Chaps on long highway rides and when really cold, below 50 degrees. Other than that, I wear heavy denim jeans.

Worn very seldom. Jeans and longjohns when cold, <40*, chaps when temps are in the teens/twenties or below.

Pair of jeans above 40*.

Fox Creek Leather for chaps - USA.

Same as most of you, I wear chaps for weather/wind protection. If the temp is over 60, then no chaps. I got mine from Fox Creek - top quality leather with heavy duty zippers and snaps.

Black leather chaps are not going on me either. Another Village People convert. So, I went looking for alternatives and found these that are made from balistic nylon. I wear them when it's cold or for rain protection. Got the extra 3m reflective tape pipe too for added visability. Nice lady will help you;

I wear chaps up to about 70 degrees....if you get the lined ones they are way easier to put on and more comfortable....also what works good for me is to zip the legs about the first 6 inches before putting them on, because the hardest part was always getting the zipper started.
Same here, lined & start the zipper first 4-6 inches.

Well living in TX, doesn't really get cold, when it's 40 outside yes it's cold, but you suck it up. Great thing about TX no skid lid, why bother wearing chaps if I don't wear the helmet.
