RE: 1st timer picking up EGC tomorrow (What do I ask?)
You might try telling them that you want to take it for a test drive before you take delivery. All of the dealers in the Denver area will agree to this if you're really insistant. No way I'd take delivery on one of the new bikes without driving it first. Any really serious manufacturingdefects would probably show up within 20 or so miles. If you have any doubts about unusual sounds or anything, just tell the salesperson about it and DO NOT believe them if they give you the old "that's normal, they all do it" line. If it really sounds/feels wrong, then it probably is! Once you sign the paperwork & drive off the lot, it's yours.

Ok, I have a correction to my post I am getting EGC not RGC. It was a quick post an did not see the mistake. I want to thank everyone for doing my homework, now I will be extra prepared tomorrow. Keep it Sunny Side Up!

Not raining on his parade.
Just giving him what appears to be the cold hard facts from
the attitudes and goings ons at most dealers today.
Told you all a while back I won't be cutting any slack.
will be calling a spade a spade as I see it.
Happy he got a new bike, but still he needs to be prepared.

doesn't matter, they will probably lie anyway.
the truth will come out later.
yeah, they're gonna tell him the lever on the left is the brake, and the one on the right is the clutch.... just so they can laugh when he stalls it and falls over. you sure know how to rain on a guys parade. maybe you should apply thumper's law from time to time (if you cant say something nice.....)
by the way, congrats on the new bike! have fun, and be safe. if you don't have an msf course under your belt, sign up for a course and get a ride like a pro dvd to watch/practice with.
RE: 1st timer picking up EGC tomorrow (What do I ask?)
Ask them how far in advance (being riding season is right upon us all) that you have to call to schedule your 1,000 mile service, if you intend on having them do it.
Do not get a week out estimatingto be at 1K,putting all kinds of miles on the bike and think you will get an appointment tomorrow afternoon or even three days out from that call. Chances are they will be booked then.
It does not hurt to schedule early or even past that milage (alittle bit)just don't wait until 2,500 mark they won't think that is very funny.
Let itstart and idle in the lot for a few min's before getting out on the road. You will notice new "hot" smells about the engine and pipes. Pipes will give little pings or clicks, ticking sounds when shut off and cooling. All is normal. If you smell fuel thats different. A hint maybe a combination of smells from breaking in, strong oder of gas. Get back to them with it an have it looked at and checked out for thingsloose or leaks from cracks.
Don't be thinking everyone is looking at you. They don't even know you exist. Remeber this when on your new bike "you" are totally invisiable at all times to everyone. You must forever keep that in mind, and your head on a swivel.
Bring or purchase a new helmet when taking it home. Wear it when your driving the bike home. It won't do any good at all in the bags or strapped to the side of the bike.

Wow...you guys are bringing the real side and that's just what I need. I really don't mind brutal honesty and I do understand that the dealership is in it for the money and many don't care rather or not you know the truth. Tommorrow I plan to be armed with a careful eye and plenty of questions.
