I am checking the oil on my 2007 road glide that i bought new as a leftover this past november. I twist and pull the cap off and guess what? no dip stick. So i call the dealer and they say I must have broken it. I DON'T THINK SO.... I am an aerospace machinest and have been wrenching on things all my life. Anyone seen an oil cap with no dipstick.
The stock dipstick on my 06 Ultra is plastic. If it broke off it would fall into the oil tank. You might take a flashlight and some hemostats or something and see if it's in there and you can grap it and pull it out. Otherwise, I'd drop the oil pan to be sure but it can't go anywhere, no way can it get to the motor.
It just looks like the cap with the dealer logo was put on in place of the original factory dipstick. Do dealers that put there logo on the the dip cap just put the emblam on or is it a whole new cap? This whole thing is kind of funny unless there is a metal rod laying in the bottom of my engine.

It's not metal, it's a plastic dipstick. If it's in there it's floating in the oil but can't get at the engine. As far as the cap, I believe the dealers just put a sticker on the factory cap with their logo.
