Kinda dissapointed. With only 5k on the clock, my gut was this is a warranty thing.. But for $29.99 I think I'll use my vacation time for something other than a trip to the dealer.
Are you looking for the large vertical bracket #58478-96A which is located along side the radio? Or the short horizontal bracket #58938-96B attached to it?
Check and see, not sure if those numbers are right.
I seems to be aproblem on some bikes, since they are so thin to begin with.
I hear of people using a thicker piece of aluminum to fabricate them and larger washers.
If it happens to me thats what I will do. Rather than buy the same thing and "hope" it doesnt happen again.
Just a thought.
Had fairing apart to install oil temp gauge. Found the cross brace on the left side was broken where it was attached to the speaker mount.
Can anyone tell me the part number for that Item?
08 FLHX
My right speaker bracket and vertical fairing bracket broke at 4k on my '06 SG. Since the design and materials of these are sh%#ty, even if you replace them under warranty, they more than likely will brake again. I just went ahead and repaired them and "beefed"the other un-brokenbracketssimilar to these pics. I think they're fixed for good....I've got 15k on the clock now and they're holding up fine.

From the sound of it "where it was attached to the speaker mount" it seems that he would be talking about the short horizontal bracket
