Was just looking over the bike after a few short rides this weekend. This is what I found. I am pretty sure it wasn't there over the winter, maybe, but unlikely. I have wahsed it a couple times this spring, and waxed it, so I am confident I would have noticed it. What would cause this? (Obviously the heat, but why?) I put on maybe 400 miles this spring, with mostly city riding. I installed V&H Ovals, AN Big Sucker, and the Fuelpak. It has been running basically flawless. I don't notice any bluing of the pipes where the shields don't cover it. Been running Mobil1 15-50 since 400 miles. Just changed it last week. Your thoughts?
Funny you should mention that. We had are first 80 deg day on friday and i smelled something but i could not see anything. Today i cleaned the bike and guess what? same thing i guess plastic don't like hot pipes.
I rode it all of July August and September, with no issues. I am going to remove them anyways, but will leave them a bit longer, now, to monitor them. Just seems strange, that's all.
STRGLIDE: It is the bubble on the black plastic on the side of the reflector(the orange plastic thing) it's melted.

RE: Can anyone tell me why?
Just cleaned my 08 SG up today from our 3 day trip to TN...same thing, also noticed the front cylinder...exhaust heat shield is discoloring, directly by the reflector.I have Rinehart True Duals....lots of heat.
It happened because you left the reflectors on the bike too long. Those need to be peeled off the bike within a day or two of purchase. If you leave them on longer than that, I think it voids the warranty
