I have an 06 police RK. I have zero engine mods. It's all stock. When I ride on the interstate cruising at 65-70 mph I seem to get 40-42 mpg. When I ride in town instead doing a lot of stop and go, I only get 32-34 mpg. This being my first Harley and my first experience with a larger engine, is the normal or ahould I be getting more?
If you search you'll find lots of threads about MPG. You'll here low 30s to 50 +.
What your getting sounds about right. My old softail got 35 - 45 depending on the riding I was doing. My Ultra with 2900 miles gets about the same. The lowest so far was 34 in heavy wind and the highest so far about 42 (today actually). I average about 36 - 37 when commuting on it.
I have the same bike, all stock. My bike gets about the same. Any problems with the bike? I had issues with the bike stalling at first but since I got that fixed she's been good.
about right for a 5 speed.
we did a test on milage. We took a group fo riders with bikes that were alike some got great mileage some bad the rest in the middle.
We rode our own bikes checked milage then we swapped bikes around and rode check milage we kept doing this till we had all rode each bike once it took a while and boring riding the same routes.
BUT what we found was those that got good milage did so on any bike they rode those that got bad milage did so on every bike they rode those in the middle stayed there.
Riding habits the way you start the way you stop reving the engine when stop some do not even know they do it, all effect fuel milage.
