ANYONE HERE TRIED 1 1/4" WILD 1 BAGGER BARS HANDLEBARS ON AN 06 STREET GLIDE?
I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THE WIRES, CLUTCH OR BRAKE WILL NEED TO BE LENGHTENED BEFORE I TAKE IT APART - I BOUGHT THE BARS FROM AMERICAN CLASSIC MOTORS (HERE COME THE RAMBLER JOKES [8D]) THEY SAID IT WAS REAL CLOSE ON THE DEMO THEY SHOWED - WHATEVER THAT MEANS IS NOT CLEAR TO ME - ANY INFO IS APPRECIATED
i tried with the stock clutch and brake lines and it su_ked. i ordered 3 inch over clutch and brake lines and it was a piece of cake. the stock throttle cables worked fine.I just depinned the stock wire harness and ran them through the bars and everything workes fine,i hope this helps.
I helped a friend do this install on his 05 Ultra and he was able to massage the brake line and make it work but had to pull the clutch cable out of the grommet in the fairing and run it outside the fairing. I know it's time consuming and costly to do but if I were doing this on my bike I would get a +3" clutch cable and probably redo the brake line also.
I had the 575's on my bike. I didn't change the cables out(I had new cables +4 clutch and +3 throttle but just didn't change them) the stock clutch cable has to be re-routed between the forks and frame and the throttle and front brake line I did not have any issues with. I didn't extend the wires either but in hinesight I wish I would have but you can just relocate the connecters inside the inner fairing.
With that being said, when I installed the new bars I extended everything, while it took a little more time I think it was worth it because everything went right where it is supposed to so I would recommend doing it right the first time.
