Hey Guys,
I am thinking of putting saddle shields on my new ultra classic. Are they worth it. How do they fit on? Do they clip on or do you have to drill holes? Any advice or info appreciated. Steve
I've got the Kuryakin shields on my EG. They are plastic, but look like chrome. They work well, but if I were doing over I would probably get different ones. these just snap in place under the side panels and are not real snugly held in place. On the other hand, they haven't fallen off! Big help on "fried thighs".
IF you have an 08 Stick with the Harley ones.
I havetried:
Kuryakyn
RJ's
Now installed the Harley units.
Only one fits without deflecting the seat ortearing the under part of the seat (not gonna point any fingerless gloves)
I installed the HD shields on my 07 Ultra (I have a solo Mustang from my 01 RKC ) and they work very well and mount close to the frame. They bolt/screw on, it's a bit of a hassle for the right side but you can do it.
'06 FLHTCI here. Put on the Kuryakyn heat shields last year. Only issue was modifying the covers. Not a tough job. They work great. Wouldn't be surprised if Kuryakyn provides H-D with the "factory" units!!
