Wow that really sucks. I am not sure if you live in town or out in the country, but here in PA wildifre season has already started. Last Saturday when I worked, we had a hunting camp burn down, along with 2 sheds that had tractors, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, and dirt bikes in them. Their 2 car garage with a Jeep and a truck also burnt to the ground. I dread wildfire season at work. People just don't understand that when it gets warm and dry and you throw a cig butt out the window, it is probably gonna start a fire.
I hope that your insurance co treats you well. If possible, could you let us know the company, in case anyone else uses the same one?
Best of luck, BTW did you know that some insurance companies, even though you pay for a full year do not cover the bike in the "off season" when it is usually stored!
Normally the off season is for liability, collision, etc. This type of loss you should still be covered or the homeowners policy should cover it.
Sorry for your loss, and I hope your ins. makes good on it. Two years ago on a trip to Hot Springs, AR, one of the guys with us came out of the resturant where we were eating to find that the sun was reflecting off of one of his mirrors and was burning a line in his seat as the sun moved. We all came out and saw it happening. It was hard to believe too.
Well, that does suck ***. I would shoot for the total loss, myself. Then start bike shopping, again. Bike's can be replaced, as much as we love them. My wife and I have had some discussions of things we would want to save from a fire.. Obviously, the kids are number one... then all of our pictures... in my eyes, everything else is replacable...
Again, sorry for the loss... NM is in the mists of fire season, with a few burning right now... I wish you the best... And, have you considered a RG? I know if I ever loose my bike, that will be next on the list...LOL. Also, if you can get it at a total loss, I believe you can take the money, and buy the bike back. Then, you can get a new ride, and rebuild the RK as money permits... Just a suggestion...
