Default Fire

I got one of the worst phone calls of my life so far yesterday.
My neighbor called to inform me that my shed was on fire. Would anyone care to guess what lives in my shed? Anyone.... anyone?
My 05 RK was in there.

The local FD investigator belives the fire started by the sun reflecting of of some bottles and caused some dry materiels to smolder then ignite. Bunch of crap if you ask me. But who am I to argue with the investigator.

All things being as they are the bike is nota loss. There is some heat damage to my chrome the windshield melted over my handlebars front tire is chared front fender isa burnt piece of toast.I'm sure there is heat damage to the wireing harness and ECU.

I will post some pics as soon as I can find an another way of posting. The files are to large for the forum.
I'm just waiting for the isurance agents to come and do there thing so I can get my pride and joy back.

Anyone have any experience with the process?
Any advice or tips are welcome.

I agree - crap. There is a cause and that is not it.

Heat will have compromised the metal in the front forks and possibly the frame. I would push for a total from the insurance company.

epsmith: Bike insured? Maybe a total loss (by insurance standards).

As a professional Firefighter for the last 33 years it sounds like a lame cause, not totally impossible, but highly unlikely. It's almost as good as an arson investigator in a neighbooring city stated"a pigeon carried a cigarette but in and it started the fire"!!!!! Best of luck, BTW did you know that some insurance companies, even though you pay for a full year do not cover the bike in the "off season" when it is usually stored!

Some people carry multiple insuranceprovidersie: home/auto/scoot/boat etc. I would also check your home owners policy....

(I only use one company for everything due to other's having issues with "who pay's")

Good luck

Sorry to hear about your bike!! As a fireman saving property is one of our main goals but someimes it is not in favor for the owner. I was in a fire teusaday afternoon it was a large shed that the owner was trying to clean the floor with a cutting torch and caught the bulding on fire. As iI approach the front door to advance a deuce and half line for fire attack I notice two older Harleys in the shed as well. So me and my partner sat next to them and guarded them from the fire! We saved the bike but everthing else was a lost. Sounds like your FD has a pretty good response time!

Maybe he is half right. How much chrome bling is on your bike?
