Default Flat tire ???

Now that the riding season is here, I been thinking how it would suck to get a flat tire while on a ride. You know the tow, the repair and most important, it ruins your ride for the day. What would you guys suggest to have on hand just in case ? Remember we want to have something that does not take much room, and also we know about having good tires on as well asthe right inflation . I have heard about a liquid that you put in the tire ? I have seen some stuff at the auto parts store, is it the same ? I not talking about fix a flat.

I think that the best insurance for prevention is Ride-On tire sealant. http://www.ride-on.com/prod_mot.asp. The next thing would be a tire plug kit with a CO2 air cartrige.

I carry a plug kit and a small bike hand pump. Its about 10 inches long and has an angle valve , I used it once and it allowed me enough air to see where the hole was, plug it and pumpit back up then ride about a mile to a gas station and pump it the rest of the way. Where do you get those co2 crtridge pumps?

best on the market - I havethe pocket tire plugger with CO2. I've never personally used it, but a riding buddy has - worked great - fast - held up well til he got a tire - about a week later - he continued to commute while waiting for his appt. for new tire install.

go to walmart, they sell the Slime kit, it contains a small air compressor and a bottle of slime sealant that you put in your tire.... I also purchased a plug kit for large holes..... in addition, I have insurance that will replace my tire free of charge...

When you apply this product into the tire do you have to lower the air pressure before is done, and does it go right in the the valve stem ? or you need an adapter ? It sound pretty good. I would buy a small case and sell the other ones to my riding buddys. The web site does not tell you how much per tire if you have to use a full bottle on each tire ?

I got a 12v compressor, like you find at Walmart for about 10 bucks, and took the plastic housing off. The guts inside will fit in the palm of your hand. That, along with a tire plug kit, is all you need for tubeless tires.......I have used it to the amazement of a few total strangers stuck on the side of the road to get them back going.

CO2 cartridge kits? They take up as much space as a small compressor by the time you carry enough cartridgesto pump up one tire. In addition, the package for those things tells you not to store them in high temps, like above 110*. I'd imagine that a saddle bag in the sun is about like a oven inside.

If you go the pump route, you can always use it to top off a low tire if you need to on the road.

When you buy the product it comes with a valve stem removal tool. You let out all of the air and then fill the tire with the entire bottle, one for each tire. I ordered mine off of EBAY and I think I paid $23.00 for two bottles. The nice added bonus to this product is that your tires stay balanced as you ride during the entire life of the tire.

I got a flat tire last week on my pos metzler made in BRAZIL back tire about 3000 miles on it since new.
I put 5 of those co 2 cartridges in it and had only 15psi I managed to ride across the road to a body shop where the guy let me plug the tire and pump it up with his air compressor .
When I put the co2s in there was still a piece of steel right in the middle of my tire I left it in cause I didnt have any side cutters to pull it and plug the tire so I dont know how much if any air was leaking out at the time.
I am going to get a small compressor now can run off the cig lighter
Looking for a replacement tire now problem is I have a new front Metzler tire on so it has to be compatible with it .
