Will a 1997 FLH fairing fit a 2007 flh bike? Are there any differences?

come one anybody know if a 1997 fairing will fit a 2007 bike? Were there any changes as far as gauge sizes or differences when they switched to the hk radio? I am looking at a 1997 painted inner fairing that was painted vivd black and I want to put it on my FLHX. Will I run into any problems?

I don't know off hand ,but according to this , the inner fairing will.

Looks like all FLH from 1996 and up.
I suppose if you ask a dealer (I couldn't find a listing) if the same color outer fairing is the same part number for both years , then the outer would also.

Mick, excellent analysis and a link to the HD website to boot.

FWIW, the PN for my '04 EG inner fairing is 58497-96A; the 96 being the year it was introduced/model year. And I replaced the OEM inner fairing with one from an '06 EG that I had painted and had no fitment issues with its installation.

Yes, it will work. I am doing one now, as I had the old fairing off a 1996 and gave my painter the old ones to paint so I wouldnt have to take the new ones off my bike yet.
Beside the painter said he'll buy the ones currently on my bike. so I 'm not left with parts in my garage and don.'t have to sell on e-bay

Ok so I am safe with a 1997 fairing to replace my 07. Harleypingman it was you who in a earlier post I saw using the search function stated the radio hole is a different size. Thats what first got me wondering if it would fit. I just want to make sure if I throw the cash down on this 1997 fairing that when I go to re-install on my 2007 street glide there is going to be no problems and after seeing the harley website I an convienced. Its weird. In the P&A book there listed as 2004 to 2007 and then a separate one for the 08's. This is too fricken confusing! Thanks for the help so far though

I know there are some parts designations bewtween the fairings 86-95 have the extra "hump" on the fairing and the 96-current years. Seems to be the 96-up is where things changed.

yes they willwork! I spoke with the dealership yesterday, one that knew what they were talking about and there are no differences at all in part numbers. The only difference is the part number for a street glide due to the fact that they come pre drilled for mirrors and the others dont but even though the flhx is a different part number any flh fairing will work

blackcherry, I sure don't remember posting that the radio hole is different--but with 2500+ posts I don't pretend to remember every one of them. If you have the link where I said that, I'll be happy to edit it and correct it.

Glad you got it figured out.

The last major change to the Batwing was in '96, you should have no problem. The 96 and 97 had the flip-shield radio and changed in '98. If there's a difference in radio size, it's minor.
