I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I bought the bullet front turn signals, part#69063-03 and am going to try to change them out myself. I'm no mechanic or electrician. My biggest question is where are the connections? Do I have to take the headlight apart to get to the plug(s). I'm fairly intelligent and can probably figure it out but would appreciate a little help from anybody that's already done it. Any tricks that make it easier? Any advice you can give me would mean a lot. Thanks.

 

You need to take the fairing off and the plugs are easy to find. Its not very hard the 3 top screws on the windsheild need to be lose. There are 4 more screws two near the hand controls and two just under them between the fork legs.Have a freind hold the fairing while you remove the windsheild.Theres a headlight and some earth wires to disconect

 

uh, did you notice his sig? it was flhrc... that would be a road king classic. no fairing to worry about.

yes, you have to take the headlight out to get inside the nacelle. all your connections are in there. i can't really help you much more than that cause i haven't done that mod. i did do the turn signal relocation from the handlebars to the front forks, and yes, i had to take the connector apart. just follow the directions, it won't be as hard as it first looks. just make sure that if you do have to take a connector apart, mark which wire goes into what terminal, that way youwon't have to take it apart again (don't ask how i know )

 

Just like Skratch said, pull the head light out and all connectors are there for you. I took about 30 min. for each side and directions were very easy to follow.

 

I added the bullet turn signal to the bottom of the passing lamp bracket on my rk custom. Is that what you are talking about? If so, I was able to just plug in the connectors, and did not have to cut anything... Mind you, I have a rk custom, so the passing lamps were added by me, then I went to ape hangers, and moved the turn signal to below the lamps. You should be able to just follow the same turn signal wires that are there, and use those connections, I would think. In any event, I had no trouble doing it... once I plugged all the connections together (which on my bike were not connected to anything since the passing lamp was not standard)

Does any of this make sense... anyways, the directions walked me through it all, and it was not a problem...

 

Thanks for the input. I was trying to trace the wires last night but couldn't find the plug end. I was afraid I'd have to take the headlight apart. I've never done that before so I guess I'll start it when I get home tonight. You guys may be hearing from me again real soon. Thanks again for the help.

 

Fairly easy install, the connectors are as noted.
Be careful where you run the wires so you don't cause an issue wtih removing and reinstalling the windshield.
Otherwise - a piece of cake.
