Cycle Electric Stator/Regulator
So last fall I was in need of a new Stator. Leaking at the plug hole on the primary, and so I figured I'd replace the regulator at the same time. Doing a ton of research, I come up with Cycle Electric as my candidate for parts. I order em up, get em installed, and I'm ready to go. (This was late last October) A couple of short (25 milers) here and the snow flies. Each ride it's back in the garage with a battery tender on it. So, first ride of the year, a nice long around the lake cruise, and when I stop for gas, nothing. Fortunately, I'm only about 7 miles from the local HD Dealer. They come get me, check everything out, and tell me I need a regulator. Now, am I pissed! I thought it might be an old battery, I get a lot of life by keeping it on the tender. So I had to put a new regulator on to get home. 200 miles. Anyhoo, I go back to the mom and pop indy with my faulty regulator, and they say, "we don't replace or refund electrical parts." I said, call Cycle Electric, and let's get a refund. Obviously it didn't work from ground zero, the couple of short rides just didn't run the battery down before it went back on the tender. Cycle Electric says they don't give refunds. They'll check it out, and if they find it was defective, I can have a credit or a new regulator. Neither of which I need. It's in the mail now, so we'll see what happens. Anyone out there need a brand new Cycle Electric Rectifying Regulator? Fits a 2000 Road King or any dresser? Any comeback I can use if they won't refund $$. Don't know what recourse I might have. Mad in Montana, CCRyder[:@]
I put a cycle electric regulator on my 99 bagger better than a year ago. I have not had one porblem with it. However I do know of one other guy that did. He worked with them and got it replaced and then decided to go back to stock also.
Sounds to me like there might have been a bad batch that went out late last year.
