Before riding my remote charging hot wire shorted and burnt the insulation from the wire. Cleaned it up and started to ride. Didn't make it a block before it died, dead. Starter spins normal. Put new plugs in, checked the plug wire resistence and was ok. Checked the coil resistence. Primary's should be between .5 - .7 and measured 1.2 and .7. Secondary's should be 5.5 - 5.7 and measured 5.6 and 5.7. Tachjumpswhenspinning the starter so probably not the CPS. I'm thinking a new coil because of the 1.2 reading. Think I'mon track or something else??
I think that you need to go basic before you put on any new parts. First check for spark using one of your old spark plugs grounded to the engine. You said that you had no spark, but did not say how you confirmed it.
I don't see how a shorted charger can destroy a coil. There are a lot more sensitive parts on the bike.
If you learn that you have spark, then check for fuel delivery.
