Default finally pulled the trigger

After draggin my wife to every Harley dealer in the San Jose area and in Boise to look at black street glides, I finallybroke down sold my custom v-rod and got a FLHX. Cant describe how happy I am with it. Just bummed I had a business trip this week that pulled me away from it. Only got to put about 50 miles on it before I had to leave. Even when it started raining I was smiling ear to ear. I still need to upgrade the pipes ( I think my VRSC was more loud than these stockers)

Initial impressions:

Very smooth ride, and very comfortable (and I am only 5'6)
More nimble that it looks for such a large bike.. cornering is a breeze
Having a radio and full faring is awesome. I dont get the wind buffeting that some of you do likely because of my height.. and yes I can see over the windshield =)
It seems to be confused on where to idle.. sometimes too high, sometimes very low. Is this normal?
These bikes do run HOT ( I was told to invest in an oil cooler).
I know the mod bug will hit me after the sticker shock wears off, but I really really like the bike as it is (ok, reinhardt true duals are a must, and I do want the saddlebag liners)

Anyone thinking of an FLHX as a potential replacement for anything would be happy. Just thought I would share

My son just ordered and 08 Ultra. I have reading as much as I can about them.
I truly don't understand it but there seem to be a considereable amount of discussion on the Fly By Wire throttle. You may want to search on that part and see what discussions have been regarding the idle issue.

I am sure you are going to love this bike. I do my 07 UC.

Welcome and Congrats!!! It could be worse ... I picked up my brand new 08 SG the day after Thanksgiving, got to put 85 miles on it, and then the snow hit! Had to put her to bed for 4 1/2 months!!! It sucked, but sure was sweet when I finally got her out. Put 1,300 miles on her in less than two weeks just toodling around. Enjoy, ride safe, and don't polish the paint off!!!

Congrats on the new ride. I too was in your shoes and faced the same delima. I have a 05 V-rod and didnt want to part with it for my SG. So I sucked it up and bought the SG and kept the V-rod. I am glad I did cause now I have the best of both worlds. By the way are you in the Boise area? If so give me a PM and lets ride sometime. Enjoy the new bike.
