I have an 08 Street Glide with Reinhart true duals on it. After reading a post on here about the performance baffles I went and purchased a set. I was not able to get the stock baffles out from the end like I have done a few times on my friends SE Electra Glide. His come right out. These have no flange on them like his does. I removed the muffler after alot of effort and was not able to knock them out either. Does anyone know if these things come out of mufflers for the 08's or not. I think the model # for these pipes is 18000434. I guess I'll have to send them back if I can't get any answers.... Thanks
I had the same problem on my 07 TD's. Isprayed some PB Blaster in from the head pipe side of the muffler, let it soak, then get your biggest screw driver and a BFH (big f*cking hammer)and beat the **** out of them. I set mine up on a couple pieces of 2x4 and went to town on them. Some guys have had some luck useing a slide-hammer but I dont have one so it what the BFH for me. Hope you're not planning on reuseing them.. there ugly when they come out this way. Oh and did I mention, the new ones go in like crap too, be carefull not to damage the ends, I hit mine with some wd-40.
Let me know how they sound when they are done. I get this freakin annoying rattle sound on decel mostly noticible indoors. But when I am out on the road it just freakin roars. Performance baffles are the way to go. Just pay the $35 and have the dealer do it right.
Prior to my post I had put in a call to Bub/Reinhart. The tech just called me back. Get this. The performance baffles are not as loud as the stock baffles. They increase your back pressure and therefore give you some more on the low end but they are not as loud as the stock pipes..... according to the tech at Bub/Reinhart. I am depressed. $120.00 in the crapper. I wanted loud!!!! Anyone interested in these...Brand new in the box.
