Default Road King handlebars

Hello to all. I'm looking to remove the handlebars from a 2005 Road King but I can't figure out how to remove the cover over the pinch clamps that hold them on. Can anyone help me out with this ??

There are 2 or 3 TINY little allen head screws that hold it in place. Remove those and the cover will come of just be vary careful when you flop it over so you don't short out any wires. As a matter of fact just disconnect the battery first.
That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Pull the headlight, then the headlight mount. There are two 5/16 nuts on the center trim piece you have to remove.(on top of the nacelle)Remove the front one first lift the front of the trim piece up there is a hook in the back under the wind deflector (if you have this) once you get this off pry off the plastic label cover up from the fork lock. Under this coever there are two phillips head screws remove these. Then the cover will come straight up giving you acess to the handlebar clamps.

Take your time, you will probably have more trouble with the right throttle grip than anything else.

To remove the handlebars on a Road King you must go through the nacelle. You will pull the headlight off as well as the passing light/signal bar. I would really suggest you get a service manual so you don't mess anything up.

Out and off is basically the same thing. Once you pull the screws out the head light, itwill only be connect by 1 connector. If you disconnect the connect that will pull the headlight off. If you leave it connected the headlight will dangle next to your fender, which is what I guess you are calling pulling the headlight out. The reason I disconnected the headlight is because 1 the manual said so, 2I felt the weight of the head light would put stress on the connector and 3 if for some reason the connect let go the headlight could fall to the ground and break the globe or the head light swinging could hit the fender and break the globe or damage the fender.

Oh yeah. Cover your fender with as many blanket/towels as you possibly can.
