Default hard bag issues
I am really getting tired of trying to keep my white bags clean and by clean I do not mean washed and waxed, I mean just clean of brake dust and other stuff (yes, I did switch to Lyndall brake pads but I still get a little dust). Does anyone know if bags from a Custom or Classic will fit my standard RK? I have the saddlebag guards and trim (you can see my setup in my avatar photo) but it doesn't look like an issue on the Custom bags because they open from the top. I can't really tell if there is an issue with the buckles on the Classic. Does anyone know for sure if these bags are interchangeable?

Yep, they're interchangeable. You may have to adjust your mounting brackets a little, but that's it. I have an 05 RKC with the leather bags. The bike has 15,000 miles on it and the bags look great.

I switched to the discontinued leather touring bags (see pic), and had to remove the rails, because they were interferring with the latches. You could switch to the Nostalgic Saddlebag Guard Rails, but I'm not positive that they will work with that set up. Sometimes experimentation is the best way to determine what will work bestfor you.

what color white do you have? white gold pearl perhaps? i've been thinking of going to the hard bags myself......

i have both...stick with the hard bags..the leather classic bags are even tougher to keep lookin good

Iv'e got the custom bags and they are easy to keep clean. I think they are great.

Why would you want to get rid of the cop bags. I rode a cop bike for 5 years and me and the wife loved the bags, they are so easy to get into and after now having a different bike with the leather bags, I think they are roomier.
