I've never done this kind of thing before but can you clean chrome exhaust pipes using a buffing wheel on a bench grinder? At my local hardware store you can also get a "red" jewlers paste for polishing. Would this work or scratch the *&^^&$# out of the pipes?
Will the Mother's ball take out very fine pitting?
I used Mother Chrome polish and the ball on mine this past weekend. My Aux light brackets had some surface rust under neath them in the corners. The mother's polish alone took most of it out and made it look a whole lot better.

I dunno, its pretty tuff to get scratches out of chrome, and with a bench grinder, yer liable to run outa chrome and be down to the bare metal before you can blink an eye. That mothers ball made my problems worse on my last set of pipes (using mothers chrome polish)..
It's imp[ossible to get5 surface scratches out of chrome, so the general idea is not to put them into it. Too late for me before I found all this good info out. Check out the detailing section. https://www.hdforums.com/forumid_219/tt.htm
There's no removing scratches from chrome. The chrome is only a few mills thick and any abrasive will remove more than you want and expose the nickel underneath. Live with the scratch or replace the part.
