I'm switching my stock mirrors to Kuryakyn's Magnums; I'm tired of looking at my shoulders and not whats behind me. These come with a flat glass or convex glass. Has anyone mixed mirrors with flat & convex lenses? I'd probably put the convex on the right side as thats the side I look at most. What other (brand) mirrors or tricks have you guys tried?
At this point I'm not switching out handlebars, maybe later.
Thanx.
I never fully rely on my mirrors. I always turn my head to look at what's beside/behind me before I switch lanes or make a turn. I'll check the mirrors first, but I always turn my head. I mostly just use the mirrors to see what's goin' on behind me as I'm goin' down the road, such as when I'm ridin' in a group so I can see what the bikes behind me are doin'.
Good question. Are there any mirror options for us RG guys that take the mirror off the handle bars and onto the fairing? I think Street Glides have this option?
I mainly use my mirrors just to see who is behind me while riding or at a light. I too never use my mirrors when changing lanes. Always turn my head. I don't even trust my mirrors in my 4x4 Dodge 1500 truck. There were a few close calls with bikes or small cars that were in my blind spot. Never again!
Some day (soon), mirrors will be an option on new cars/trucks cause no one uses them. There are a lot of stiff necked drivers out there in their cages. Mirrors are an aide in our war against those out to get us; use them but don't rely solely on them...
I put the HD mirror extensions on my stock mirrors
and it helped alot. I also got tired of looking at my elbows.
$30.bucks a pair, now I can actually use the mirrors!
I put HD long stemmed mirrors on my RG - moved them out about an inch. Available in chrome or black. Helped a bunch. The extensions raise the mirror, the long stems move them farther outboard and a little higher. Look like stock mirrors, unless you choose black. I did, makes them dissapear from the front.
I have the Harely slip mirrors and did not really see any big difference. I think the fisheye smaller mirror is not convex enough to really get the supposed full effertc desired. MPO
I liked the look of the stock harley mirrors on my Road Glide but I have ugle elbows, so i picked up a set off of a sportster, same mirror just a lot longer stems. I think I paid $10 off e-bay shipped.
I have the Kury Magnums with the convex lens on each side and am very pleased with them. Very high quality, and although I still see some of my arm in them, they are better than the stock mirrors. Forgive the poor pic....
