My stomach muscles are killing me from this thread. LOL... you guys are too much.
Can't say anything about my ole lady. Married almost 40 years and she's always been in shape. I'm the one out of shape and she lets me know about it.
Hey Manish, what size sissy bar/pad is that? my wife is complaining that her backrest is too short for her (shorty bar, low profile pad). The one you have looks like it would be perfect. Thanks.

Funny you should ask. The bar in the picture is P/N 52933-97A with the pad that matches the Pillow Look seat P/N 52708-97A. In 2005 it was called the tall sissy bar. NowHD makes a taller bar so this one is now called the medium. Well I decided to do a little some thing nice for my wife and bought thenew tall sissy bar 52723-06 (not pictured) for ultimate back support. Don't get me wrong she loves the support. But even though she is over 6 feet tall it is hell kicking her leg that high to get on.
About big girls...one of our pilots here at work likes big butts and can always be found stating, "Ya need enough *** to keep your ***** from dragging on the sheet!"
How's that? I have the detachable backrest and rack and can not see how you can mod it to gain anything or moving it back.

With the RK you can do a very simple mod to the mounting of the passenger backrest that will gain you an extra 1" or so of space between you and your sweety. [/blockquote]
I found this mod on another forum a few years back. My wife is a plus size so it made a difference for us.
It's a little hard to explain without pictures but I'll try. If you look at the bracket for the rear mount for the backrest there are multiple mounting holes. Below the hole the directions tell you to use is another mounting hole for a different purpose. What you do is drill a new hole between the one you are presently using and the lower one that you don't use. What this does is it allows the rear mount to rotate down which in turn changes the angle of the backrest just a little as it moves through the arc. It may not makes sense but it works. If you ever want to change it back to the original mounting hole it only takes a minute. If I'm travelling solo I'll put my travel bag on the rear seat to use as a backrest. I'll move the rear mount back to the original hole so the bag is closer to me so it is in a more useable position.
Here's the eay way to determine where to put the new hole. There is a flat strap that is attached to the rear mount. When you remove the rear mount to drill the new hole, just swing the flat strap down and use it as a template or guide to show you where to drill the hole. Just pick a spot in between the two existing holes and drill. You don't have to be precise.
If you need pictures let me know. I'm taking tomorrow off to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway with some friends so it may be a few days before I can get back to you.
Edit- Actually, this should work for any of the Touring models using a passenger backrest instead of a Tour Pack.
So glad I asked this question, I knew the subject line "Tiny Girl" would get all you Dog's attentions.
You guys are very brave even showing pictures!!! Too funny
I am going to be in trouble, but here goes. I have a Road King and I have the HD Pillow Look seat. I am 6'2 240 lbs. and my wife is 6'1". I won't tell her weight but she is a 42 waist and 22 dress size. We fit fine on the bike. Bottom line is, you can get a Road King, just change the seat.
that sounds about like my GF & i....im 6'2" 265lbs and she is 6'1" and not real small but not huge either. we ride on stockSG seat for now and only problem we have is when we wear our leather jackets it pushes my forward a little. i made a comment to her last sat about it...still waiting for the bruise to heal!!!
Don't ever, and I mean NEVER write anything down that you might not want someone else (read - spouse or gf) to read!!! Do you ever watch cop shows and laugh at the dumbasses that video tape themselves commiting a crime?
Welcome to their club!!!!!!!!!
And Neckball thanks for the instructions! The tall sissy bar puts my wife too far forward. Sounds like this mod might be just the ticket.
