i put a set of black Bassani Pro Streets on my old Dyna. They looked and sounded great. The problem with them was that
1) Bassani doesn't supply heat shields with them and they heat up so bad, i burnt all the hair off my right thigh (suckers get hot), and
2) the ceramic coating is a bitch to clean. You can't use normal cleaners on them because they either strip the ceramic coating or discolor them, so when i sold the Dyna, they had boot burn bits all over them.
Bassani does sell their heat shields, but it takes almost 2 months to get them and they'll cost you a fortune. When i got them in, they were to short, really ugly and severly overpriced. I mailed them back and got my money back.
Jett Hot in Pa. will send you a quote for free. Mine was for 2 headers, 2 heat shields, and 2 mufflers and that was $350 to strip the chrome and ceramic them. http://www.jet-hot.com/motorcycles.html
LOL... I hear ya, Leo. LMAO. The reason I think the wrap might look good on my bike is after some tie, it gets this grey color to it, and since my bike is black pearl, it may look sweet... Of course, all this could be settle if ya want to give me that "ugly" black pipe on your bike, LOL...
You can have your existing pipes ceramic coated for somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 - $400. Jet-Hot comes to mind. I know there are others that do it, too. As far as blacking out the bike, you mean like this:
HPC is the other big one that can apply a high temp coating to your pipes. On my first Road Rage the coating deteriorated in less than 1000 miles. I sent it back for a warranty exchange. When I got the new one I immediately sent it off to HPC for their 1600 degree satin black coating. Looks great and is much more durable than the factory coating Bassani used.
I went with HPC over Jet-Hot because they stated their coating was pretty scratch resistant and could be cleaned with normal bike cleaning products. Jet-Hot told me their coating should be treated like a painted part. I read that as it was not very scratch resistent. Price was pretty close between the two. It was under $300 including shipping both ways for my complete (no heatshields) system.
Had a set of Black R&B Racing LSR pipes on my 06 Bob.. Loved them.. Now looking at D&D True Duals.. They make them in Black.. Haven't seen a set yet.. Anyone??
The bike looks great, and I am really diggin' the heat wrap. I think I am going to try it when I have the exhaust off... thanks for the pic. If ya have more, I would love to see them...
