ORIGINAL: cfmii11Hey Ron,
The fairing looks great, I do have a question though.
How effective are the Polk tweeters, do they really make a difference?
Do they require an amp to power up or are they plug & play?
Fill me in on the install.TIA,Charlie
Thanks Charlie

The tweeters make a huge difference. I wear ear plugs and they cut out a ton of high end sound which is where all the clarity is. The tweeters really add that sparkle back to the tunes. There's a diagram on the Hogtunes web site for wiring them in - http://www.hogtunes.com

Basically you just piggy back right off the main speaker connections. The Polks have a crossover so I soldered the wires going to the crossover directly to the tabs on the fairing speakers. The stock radio powers them just fine - no amp required. I drilled a couple holes in the web of the inner fairing and zip tied the crossovers and wiring there on each side.

Hope that helps....

Hey Ron. Looking at the last pic you posted gave me an idea. Have you thought about painting the inner part of your lower fairings? I think it would look great. I've never seen it done before.

Also, is that a cymbal you have on your air cleaner cover? I'd like to see a better pic of that.

I've always said painting the inner fairing on these baggers is the single #1 upgrade you can do to your bike.
Well done, my friend!

Hi Zach

I though about that but the material on the lowers is a soft almost rubbery kind of stuff and I don't think it would paint well.
Yes - it's an old 14" Zildjian of mine that I cut down and shaped to fit the air cleaner. Here's a better photo
