If you plan on riding "two" up go with the ultra, if ride alone, go with the classic, ya don't need those heavy rear speakers, & the CB is a waste also.
I disagree about the speakers. My rear speaker DO add sound to me, as the driver. Not "needed" per se, but they are nice to have. I could easily tell the difference in sound when I had the tourpak off the bike.

In the end, get what you really want. Hell, I bought a STREET GLIDE and sunk a ton of cash into it to take it to something between a Classic and an Ultra, just because I wanted a solid color paint job, with no pinstripes, and clean fenders. I liked the SG wheels better as well, and the gauges and other minor cosmetic stuff are nice as well.

But I KNOW I could have bought an Ultra for less that what I have in this. But Its how I want it to be, not a compromise that I always have to look at and wish was different. And thats worth something.

You people with multiple bikes... Sheesh.
Seriously though, once again, thanks for all the good advice.
Now I'm strongly leaning towards an Ultra.

I just got my 08 Classic a month or so ago. It's sweet. Don't need CB, intercom, CC, or the lowers. I have soft lowers which are on or off in a flash and only cost $30. I'm happy with 40 watts and 2 speakers too. I also have the Crimson Red Sunglow and it looks great. I may addsome lighting to the rear but I don't really care for the wraparound look on the Ultra tourpak. It's really up to you. You're riding it, so like Burger King says, "have it your way". Good luck with whatever you choose.

I had the same dilemna and decided to go with the Ultra because it is actually cheaper than adding a few of the extras that come with the Ultra over the Classic. I actually ride alone most of the time, but when someone sits on the back they are very happy. I ride year round so the lowers really help; more than I thought they would. You can always take something off and set it in the garage until you want it. Either way you'll have a nice bike.

I own an Ultra and I seldom use all of the features. Therefore,if I made the decision again, I'd buy aClassic and save some coin. Let your riding habits guide your purchase decision.

I have both the Classic, Ultra, and one Lowrider. The only reason I bought the Classic, because I really liked the EVO and 1998 was the last year for it. Also, there were not that many new EVO powered Electra Glides at Dealerships as most were Twin Cam by that time.

All bikes are excellent rides.....no real complaints here.

In my opinion, buying a Classic would be like buying a very expensive luxury car with crank windows, coth interior, AM only radio, no ABS, cheap plastic hubcaps...etc.

If someone is going to spend 15k plus for an Electra Glide......spending 2-3k more for the Ultra is nothing. I meet so many people that bought Classics trying to save money....and most say they should have bought the Ultra.
