AMSOIL MCV will last your entire trip just fine, unless you plan on going longer than 15,000 miles
Or unless you have a unforeseen problem where you need to add oil.........

JD
My Amsoil dealer said to add any good dino 20/50 if you're in a bind but do not add another brand of synthetic.
I guess you could do that but why not simply use an oil that is available everywhere?....

For any overnight trips, you should pack a quart anyway... If you are burning more then that, you have bigger problems...

I run Amsoil - got a couple of cases of it in the garage. Though for my trip in June I'll likely change to Syn 3 so I can pick up a quart anywhere if I need to add. When I get back I'll change back to Amsoil.

Mobile 1 would win the nationwide-accessibility contest hands down. You can find the 15w50 in most Wal-Marts and auto-parts stores, the 20w50 VT probably not quite so available. Royal Purple is sold at Pep Boys and Napa in this area, and if this holds true nationwide would make it quite accessible, too.

Whatever you use regularly, you could use almost any of the main players in the synthetic oil business in a pinch. You could mix Mobil 1 with Redline or anything else without any problems.

If you are runing fully syn and you cannot find your 1st choice of fully syn oil while on a trip and you really need oil. Then buy any fully syn oil that is available, it will not hurt the bike. When you get home and/or it is time for the next oil change put in your choice again. Because we are creatures of habit; most of the time when your in a situation having to use oil that is not your first choiceit's the operator that gets nervous, the bike is just fine.

Just don't mix oils, however, some oil is better than no oil; so it can be situational. There are lots of places to buy oil of all types all over the US, so just go andenjoy thetrip.
