Perfect for a Harley (or practically any other vehicle). You know you like to run 5 or so over the limit, so this allows you to do that without worryin' about a ticket, or at least it works for me.
The comments about BMW are right on. Those damn things averaged 7 to 10 optimistic. Until I calibrated mine I spent more time doin' math than enjoyin' the ride........[:@]

RE: Speedometer Accuracy
The speedometer on my '07 Fat Boy was right on the money with my zumo 550. However, the speedometer on my '08 Electra Glide consistently reads 3-4 mph higher than the zumo, i.e., the speedo will read 65 mph while the gps is reading ~61 mph.
Google Dakota Digital for a cheap (around $100) fix. They make an electronic device for several bikes to recalibrate, that plugs right in most bikes (on some, you may have to splice in).
I've used a gps in my last four cagers and last three bikes. Everyone of them showed a higher speed than the gps. I always assumed it was the manufacturer trying to cover there ***. How pissed would drivers be if they got a speeding ticket, yet their speedo indicated they were not speeding.
