Default RAM mount question

Just a quickie question for those with RAM mounts. Do the standard lenght arms come with one spring or two. Just got mine and it only had one. Also if it is only one which part of the mount should be at the spring end. Or doesn't it matter. Took both ball ends off before I realized there was only one spring.

One spring on all three of my RAM arms (three different lengths, I think they are 1.5", 3", 5"). Doesn't matter which end the spring activates, although I usually put the springy end towards the device being attached.

The long and standard have springs, short doesn't. Doesn't matter which end the spring goes on, it's personal preference.
