My cd player skips while riding ,doesnt skip when stoped at a light or sitting idling.It seems to skip at 1800 rpms to 2200,I think it is a result of engine vibration.My engine mounts look ok ,this my first touring model so I dont know what to look for.Use to riding softails.Manuel is on its way,is there a way to chase this skipping down.Mods, Wild pigs slipons ness big sucker 48 slow 195 main jets

 

does the FM radio cut out also or just the cd skip...??

if it's the CD only,:
1.. pickup a CD cleaner at Radio Shack & run it thru a couple times... Makes sure afterwards that you ride with the door shut on the player.. this keeps the dust out.

If the radio cuts out on FM or Aux also, try these:

2. check the software version you're running (Harmon Kardon radio??).. current version is 8.19, but some guys have had trouble with loss of volume, skipping, or cutting out.
Do a Forum search on either Harmon Kardon Radio or Software.. theres a couple posts there that will tell you how to check which version of software you have, and how to download other versions.

3. I had 8.19, had cutouts, went back to Version 8.09 and have not had any problems.

4. If you do download the software and burn it to a CD, make sure you burn it at the slowest speed your computer will handle..that way the laser burns deeply into the disc. Also, if you're upgrading the software.. don't jump to the newest version, install in sequence.. for some reason, this seems to work better.

06 models had a known skip issue which can be easily fixed if you visit www.hogtunes.com/softwareupdates.htm. Some car radios cannot handle the occilation of the motor/fairing relationship.

Year 2005 e glide HD radio/cd player Store bought or homed they all skip at some point.Most of the time Ill be riding along an it will be playing fine then it will skip give a lil music then skip skip then nothing.I think it is a result of engine vibration at different rpms .thanks for replies
