had to ride through some fresh tar lines (half @s# road repair) any way, any good way to get this off the bottom of my bike? chemical that wont remove or damage paint or discolor motor?
Kerosene will do a good job getting rid of it without hurting anything. Just be sure to give the scoot a good bath afterwards in something like Dawn dish detergent to remove the Kerosene.
They make a bug and tar remover. Sold at most Auto stores. Myself the first thing I would do if it's a lot, is spray it with WD-40. Old fashioned kerosene works wonders. It will dissolve all the tar, then When finished, wash with strong soap and then wax.
had the same problem couple weeks back new tar, hot sunny day and going into a corner. front end slid out in mid corner luckily was able to recover but still had that crap all over the place.
I'm not really sure what the OL uses to clean the tar off my RKC. I'm usually drinking beer and watching the ball game when she cleans it off. Her knuckles are usually pretty skinned upafter she's done so there must be some elbow grease involved.
