Default When to put on stage 1

Hi

When is it best to do the stage 1 on a new bike?

On my first bike in 96, the mechanic would not
put on the stage 1 kit before my first service.

What should I do when I get my new bike next spring?

Would be nice to have the Stage 1 fittedwhen I get the new bike!

Any pros or cons on this subject?

On my 06 dyna I had the dealer install the a/c, slip ons and do the download at time of purchase. They recommended that because every thing that was on the bike at delivery would be covered by my ext warr.

FWIW, my delaer recommends to do this at the first serice, specially when you also have the machine Dyno'ed. They do not like to harass a brand new machine that way... Therefore I waited for the 1600Km' service.

I had my Stage 1 right from the beginning. Dealer did S/E slip-ons, air cleaner and download before I picked up my E-Glide brand new. Break in proceedure is the same as without the upgrade. Makes no difference and won't hurt a thing. My bike has been running great ever since.

I did mine after the 1000 mile service and did it myself. Piece of cake! The reason I waited - wanted to ride it a while to see how much difference I could really feel ...... I could really feel it! Also, I was getting 32-36 MPG and now it's a consistent 40-42. It looks good, it feels good and it runs good. Summer's almost here and life is GOOD!

No reason you can't do a stage one right away.

I did my Stage 1 at 120 miles. Dealer said didn't make any difference waiting to 1000 mi servicing or not. Did not effect extended 5yr warranty.Runs and sounds like a champ, but mpg averages 38-41 highway as of yet with 3300 miles. I'm hoping for more once I make it past 5000mi.

Not that I want to draw attention to my lack of Harley knowledge, but I am a new owner, so can someone please tell ne exactly what a Stage 1 is, what does it do, and what is the cost? I'm averaging 30-35 mpg on a 2000 UC that currently has 42,000 miles on it.

Thanks!
