Default Need input fast!!

I'm trying to decide which shocks to put on my 2000 Ultra Classic, and I can't decide between the different sizes. My goal is to be able to stand flat-footed when at a stop, I'm a bit vertically challenged@ 5'8". I've had some input, but I'm hoping to hear from folks who have made the switch. Right now it's stock, and I tried a lowering kit (see pic below), and at its lowest setting (2.25"), I was rubbing/bottoming out(off & on), even with about 20# of air in the shocks, so I moved it to the higher position (1.25"), and dropped the air down to about 5#'s. I'm not rubbing/bottoming outnow, but also am no longer flat-footed.
I've been looking into switching shocks, but don't know what size to go to. Been looking at both air and gas, don't know which is better, and the sizes from 10" (gas), 11" (gas), 11.5" (gas), and 12" (air). I think 10" would be too low, and don't know if the12" would be low enough.
I don't want to swap out my seat, it's an $800 Road Zepplin Air Adjustable seat, and it's comfy as hell, even tho it spreads my legs out a bit.
I've been told that I won't get any lower than the lowering kit, but I'm thinking if the lowest setting was too low, and the higher setting is a bit too high, then maybe something in between would work, hence the 11"/11.5" consideration.
Any helpful guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Bo

Several of my friends have gone to Progressive Suspension 440 shocks, 11.5" with good results. That seat is working against you though.

Yeah....I know it is, but it's just soooo hard to get rid of a comfy $800 seat! It came with the bike when I bought it a few weeks ago, but if all else fails, I may have to get rid of it!
Thanks for the input!!

Bo

I'm in agreement with Beemer, the Progressives will help but the seat makes a huge difference when it comes to body position, trust me. I've had 5 different seats on my King because of back issues andeach onewill sit youdifferently..higher, lower, front, back etc....sounds like the seat you have may have some nice cushion to it, which will raise you??

Arnott Air Ride ... I have the 13" Aldan - travel range is 9.5" to 13" won't bottom out even at the lower bump stop. Though you don't want to ride on the stop, more like a hardtail at that position.

Have a 29" inseam and they come in real handing when you need to duck walk the bike out of a parking space.

They also make a 12" Bilstien which runs from 9.75" to 12"

Got it.....HIGH HEELED BOOTS!!!! [sm=imsorry.gif]couldn't resist it!!!

look at this too...adjustable for every condition...lower when stopping, raise while getting underway..might be a plausible solution for your issue http://www.cyclespot.com/Merchant2/m...pension_Harley
