Can anyone please tell us why some '06 injectors work OK and others cause problems.
Is there a manufacturer defect Is there something else in the mix that makes them not perform properly? Why has the MOCO decided to install CVO injectors on all bikes on the line as of Feb. 13th? Why do they expect SOME to keep stock injectors when THEY are no longer using them to build new bikes?
Is there no one that has these answers? The dealer don't seem to know, they just do what they are told and apparently never ask why.
I can't answer your question. Some members here have 06's that run great with the stock injectors and others can't ride in 5 minutes of traffic without having problems. The dealers are installing the SE injectors on all bikes that they determine the problems are directly related to the stock injectors (per the bulletin). They will not install them on all bikes as a blanket fix. The SE injectors are just under $100.00 each if you install them yourselves.
These are valid questions Streetrunner, wish I had some valid answers. I have an '06 RG with no performance mods (yet) and the bike runs just fine. It's discerning to read that some are having problems with their bikes. I'd like to have the new injectors installed on my bike, but I won't even bother asking my dealer if they'll install them 'cause per the bulletin if your not having problems, they're not gonna just throw new injectors on your bike. Perhaps if there are enough problematic bikes out there, it will become a recall.
Just like anything else, some bikes have problems even though another bike of the same kind won't have any problems.
I have an 06 Ultra and so far the only problem I have had was the radio display went out, but was cured when the Service Department entered in the upgraded software for the radio.
Cars and trucks are the same. I have an F350 that was never in for repairs whereas other trucks of the same year and configuration spent a lot of time in the dealership.
I did learn one thing when working on bikes, cars or trucks. "Just Because It's New In The Box, Doesn't Mean It Works".
Hard one to Answer that might be the million dollar Question
My 06 Electra Glide Classic runs fine and its an early 06.
Im planing on doing a stage one with pipes and a cam will the SE Injectors work better for my Bike ??????
Wonder if different climates are relative? I know it has an effect on carb bikes.
I thought so too, but I've heard of the same problems I'm experiencing in 80 degree temps, so scratch that idea! Besides... in THEORY the computer should be monitoring the temperature and making appropriate adjustments. It's probably the EPA not allowing those adjustments to be made in the interest of performance though.
Funny thing is when the dealer picked up my bike this morning, it actually stalled out when he hit the throttle, then took several attempts to get it started again! It never did this to me before, always started the 1st or 2nd try. Only stalled on me once. I think whatever the first dealer did screwed it up even worse than it was to begin with. Anyway, hopefully they get the CVO injectors in there, re-map whatever the previous dealer screwed up, and I'll be cruising by the time the weather breaks here in cold Ohio.
