Bad day at rolling thunder
read your manual people. there is a way to put a pin and bypass the alarm and ride the bike home without the key as long as the ignition is not locked.
I would highly recommend reading the owner's manual and changing the PIN as I think the standard code is 3-1-3-1-3 from the factory.
Somebody can correct me if I am wrong on this (and I am sure they will
)Also, you did not have as bad of a day as one guy we saw at the Ride of the Patriot. He was coming down a grass hill to get to his bike for the start and rolled his ankle. As black and blue as it got so fast, probably broken. Bet he will have a tough time explaining that one to his biker buddies... And if that guys is on this forum, I'm sorry for your accident.
While a spare is your best bet, you can open your barrel keyed ignition with a Bic pen. A clip like this shows you how. The one I watched showed you a couple of slits you had to cut in the pen. I tried it with my bike and unlocked it.

Oh, and sorry to hear you had a bad day at Rolling Thunder. We had a pretty good time. Unfortunately, we were probably in the last 500 bikes of the parade, so by that time, it seems like most of the people had left. They were also stopping us on the route so people could cross the street. I guess next time we will get there a few hours earlier so we can be in the first 200,000 bikes...

Did the "Ride of the Patriots", on Sunday, also. I was parked in Patriot H-D parking lot, as I had a Volunteer Pass, from working the event Saturday.. I was one of the "Icemen", getting ice and keeping the pop barrels full. Also picked up the Hot Wings form Hooters for the girls to pass out during the Open House.
The D.C. news broadcast said there were 750,00 bikes participating in Rolling Thunder. I was in the second parking lot, on the other side of the stone bridge. We were the fourth row to exit the lot.
Riding a bike in D.C. is like having a Death Wish. Most fun I have had on a bike in years!!!
