This is my motto it stands for "All the gear all the time"
I ride with boots, jacket, riding pants, helmet and gloves 100% of the time.
I am curious how many others do and feel the same way.
I might should have posted this in the General Forum but was mostly interested in the Touring crowd.
bacon: catchy acronym. I do the same; probably because that's how I was taught. I use the mesh jacket with armor in the warmer and hotter weather, instead of the leather. Also, found an excellent pair of perforated gloves with armor in the knuckles made by Ikon, "Pursuit" is the model name IIRC.
Something cool about being prepared for any event. That being said I try to be efficient & space effective. Irritating to not be able to fit a purchase into the bike because of all the "be prepared" junk. Many time though I had wished that I had actually brought that extra warm sweater for the ride back home after dark.
Gues thats why they call yo" Bacon" cause thats what you are in the summertime. HA HA. I respect anybody thats is smart enough to be safe. I amHelmet ,goggles , boots andlevis all time anyware. At night I dony need eyeware, but wear itpretty much always. I love the feel of the wind on my skin. I have been down before on the street and 300 stitches later I have no regrets because I was wearing ankle high boots and broke my foot, and wearing a helmet and tore the side of my head wide open. If it was full face I might had not been injured, Its sounds worse than it is! I have a couple scars but still am extremly good looking!! The road rash was very minimal at 40 MPH??
I know what you mean but I am mainly talking about protective gear.
Yes I do carry too much stuff on the bike when on a trip I have one saddle bag almost full of just in case stuff.
The wife gets the tourpac and I am left with just one bag for my stuff.
The purpose of this thread was for me to see how many others feel the same way about protective gear.
Year around I ride with a jacket of some sort mesh in the summer vented in the spring and fall and insulated in the winter.
Good boots I have about 4 that I use and textile mesh vented leather or solid pants depending on the temp.
Over the years I have found a real good set up and now I can ride protected and comfortable year around.
