Default Springers

This is WAY too early in the morning but here at work we are having this discussion. One of the guys asked me if I have heard of an Ultra or Elec glide with Springer forks. Has anyone out there seen this??

Never have seen it, but, there's lots I haven't seen. Interesting concept though.

I don't think there has ever been a factory bagger with a springer front end.

I bet it would be a good ride but you need to make it yourself.

This may be redundant to you hard-core HD types, but a short history lesson.
HD introduced the Hydra-glide in 1949 or so. This had the familiar hydralich front forks as are on the EGs now and was a PanHead engine.
In 1958 the FL Duo Glide was introduced and was basically an updated version...bell-whistles--of the hydra glide...also a panhead
In 1965 the Eltra glide was on the scene. Electra meaning electric starter...also a panhead
in the mid 1980s the FLTs were introduced. A shovelhead engine and what is now starting to look like our EGs and RGs
Next are the evos, and the TCs but for the most part the basic design has remained the same. No EG has been produced by HD moco with a springer front end. Hence the "glide" portion of Electra Glide.

I'll bet it would look great. If the springer front end wasn't so expensive, I'd give it a try on my RKC.

I have never ridden a springer, from what I've read so far they seem to be a special riding experience. What's the deal.

I owned one and loved it. Better ride than many other bikes I've had. And the retro-look was beyond compare.

Your friend could be confused by the H-D Heritage Springer.H-D does not make it anymore but it does have saddlebags.
