Default Smaller front sprocket (Pulley)

Has anyone dropped the fron tooth count (or increased the rear) to get some more pull out of the higher geared 2007/2008 tourers?

Were you able to use the stock belt? I am thinking of dropping a tooth up front and hoping to avoid changing belts. This produced very positive results on my Roadstars.

Evolution Industries now has a 49T clutch sprocket for the 07/08 bikes.
Comes with new chain. Drops 6th gear to 2.972 overall.

I think he's asking about changing the secondary front pulley, not the primary drive front sprocket.

I agree, just giving him another option that may be more appealing and easier to do.

Good info, Thanks. Seems unclear as to what the right tooth count could be, trial and error can be costly..

t might be easiest to change the rear pulley and buy the longer belt.

Then you'd also have to recalibrate the speedo. Also, to change the belt you'd be removing the entire primary.
Changing the clutch gear only involves removing the outer primary case.
I may be missing something here but if this would get you the desired gear ratio it would be about $325 parts and an hour labor.

I dropped 2 teeth on my front pulley. Made a ton of difference especially with a 103 kit with cams. Mathematically it was geared to do 176 mph, I could cruise between lugging at 60 to 100 plus in third gear. I can now cruise at60 or so in 4th, 75 in 5th no problem at 2900 rpm. The speedo is 5-7 mph off (reads faster) and there is no calibration kit yet as of early this year. You do need to change the belt to the international part number, and the primary does have to come off.

Dakota Digital makes a device that will work to calibrate stock Harleys. It plugs right in on '06 and older, but on new bikes it has to be spliced in. Check the installation directions on this link, as the info on this page does not address the '07 and '08's
