Employees are threatened with their job if they talk and the company is serious. The average worker on the factory floor doesn't know any more than the average customer because they aren't even allowed through the doors of the design center where the new models are being created. I have a friend who is a contractor that did some work in the design center a few years ago and he had to have all of his employees sign an agreement to not discuss anything they saw while working in the building or they'd face prosecution. Their security is not as good as Area 51's, but it's damn close.
Pretty funny. The past couple weeks, the TV show "American Thunder" has done segments where they were given tours of the Design Center. They interviewed ***** G and a few other people, showed some design slaves toiling away at graphics stations, but in the end, not much was actually shown, and of course nothing that the general public didn't already know.
I suspect the employees that know are required to sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). If theybrake it, not only could they be fired but prosecuted also.
I've work at a dealer most of my life and have made friends with moco employees and they'll leak a few hints to me from time to time, but I have to agree, it stillamazes me that very few people outside the moco find out about new models.
