Anyone had a heated seat with a lot of miles on it?It seems to me that the heating element would need to be at or very close to the surface to work well. I looked at heated options as well but am worried that eventually you'd feel the wires through the cover.

My o2 FLHTCUI has a heated seat and 95,550 miles on it. LOVE IT! Just make sure to switch it off every time you put her away or the next warm day you'll fry your a** off!

About the heated seats are for wimps--I used to say the same thing about windsheilds. Now I keep the windsheild on my Duece. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

I bought a Corbin Rumblefor my FLHT to give me more room ,didn't realise it had heat, finally got around to wiring it in ( a sipmle job with the supplied loom ). I miss that seat, in cool weather it gives you miles more riding. I'd buy another.

Had them on a goldwing get to warm at the pressure points not warm enough elsewhere get heated grips well worth the money.
Just be aware that with heated grips you have to have your hands on them all the time (well, it didnt' occur to me until after I installed them, duh!)...I have them, but heated gloves are next for me. I like to ride one-handed a lot.
+1 on the heated gloves

Somewhere I read about a study in Europe that suggested a heated seat lowers the sperm count, both short term and long term, not that I care at my age

gman, I'm sure your girl appreciates the extra warmth!

As for the sperm count, I wonder if my girl would go for that excuse? Possibly savetime and money if she did ... Where can I get a copy of that study?

I'm getting ready to order a Corbin seat, and can't decide whether to get the heated option or not. I live in central Texas, and we don't get that many cold days. On the other hand, I think lack of exposure makes me more adverse to riding in the cold. It's also only 8 miles to work, so it's not worth putting on dual layers to ride, so maybe with a heated seat, I'd ride more in the winter.

What do you think? Do those of you with heated seats like them? Do you use them a lot? If you don't have one, do you wish you would have purchased a heated seat instead of the regular model?

Also, are then any other things to worry about with the heated models, such as durability, reliability, battery life, comfort level, etc?
I hope no other Texans read your question. I'm a Texan in Nebraska and I wouldn't even think of the heated seat. In central Texas, you know you put your butt in those cool rivers. However, I have to admit, the heated handgrips are nice.

Cheers,
Mack

Hmmm...heated seat? I think my a$$ is the only thing that stays warm when I ride in the winter! Heated grips or gloves would be nice or heated longjohns...the rest of me stays pretty warm!
