I have 2008 Road King w/ABS and Cruise. Bought at the beginning of May and on 15 May took off for a vacation trip. Road from San Antonio to Norfolk VA for 1634 miles. Did a few hundred in the local area riding with family. Left Norfolk VA and road US 17 to US 1 all the way to Key West FL about 1700 miles. Then left Key West and road the gulf side of florida until I hit IH 10 and grabbed it west back to San Antonio for another 1754 miles.
Weather: Gusty Breezes in Georgia/South Carolina/North Carolina. Ran into a little rain and hail. Hot/humid weather from about Myrtle Beach all the way to Key West and from there to San Antonio.
Bike ran great with no problems whatsoever. mpg varied from 40 to 50 mpg.The 40 mpg was running 75 mph/headwind/and ethanol in the gas.
Bike is rock stable in crosswinds and very little affect from the 18 wheelers. Bike was very comfortable with the exception of the handlebars...need them to be 2 inches higher.
Bags did not leak in the rain and the bike sustained no damage from the hail. The stupid black ring on the mufflers changed colors...lol.
ABS kicked in once......when someone took my following distance and we both had a hard stop due to traffic conditions.....only on the back when I hit the front hard to effect a rapid slowdown. The shift in weight took a lot of weight off the rear allowing the ABS to keep it from locking.
Got back and had my 5K done at 6.5K on the odometer
No throttle issues or cruise control issues....both worked well in all the conditions with no worries.
