Looks familiar to me, too, but more like something from a bicycle. I'm thinking it's road trash you picked up that's been kicking around between your frame and engine/tranny and you just washed it out.
By looking at the threads I would say that it is from a 1" tube end somewhere. Can't figure that one out. I'm sure a dealer could identify it. They will probably want to sell you a new one for $12.00 and install for $150.00.
