I just returned from picking my bike up after being repaired. It is a 2007 flht with 6600 miles (I purchased new) Work order say's they installed new seal on inner primary and seal on tranny side (mainshaft)This was the second trip as the first time they installed new primary cover gasket. I told them I did not think that was the problem but what do I know. Well it seem's the leak is fixed this time. All was done under warranty. I am satisfied with dealer and motorcycle but hope this isn't something that will occur every 6 to 7 thousand mile's. My bike had the clatter but seem's to have gotten quieter even before leak started. The build date is 7-06. We'll see how it goes. Any one else have this problem?
Karl
My '07 RKC leaks around the mainshaft on the tranny side and primary side. I noticed the leak on the tranny side at 14k and the primary side at 23k. It's a Harley, what do you expect?

While I admit oil leaks on a Harley may not hurt it, I expect no leaks. I had one leak fixed on my 02 RKC when it had 16000 miles (shifter seal) with no other leaks when I sold it with 26000 miles. The bike is designed and built to not leak oil. If you have a leak and you don't want the mess, it can be fixed.
I had the same thing fixed on my bike at 10,000.
It's common and I don't know how long the seals will last.
Bad thing is, getting oil on your drive belt is not good. It can degrade it I'm told and I sure don't want the belt breaking on me nowhere nohow.
Hearing the same problem exists on the 6 speed tranny is depressing
